Born to musician parents Debashish Bhattacharya, a child prodigy, was initiated into Indian classical vocal but he picked up guitar and got hooked by its musical appeal akin to vocal due to its ability to glide. The promise of an uncut diamond enthused his parents to take their first-born at the feet of stalwarts in the arena of vocal and instrumental (guitar). The intense and rigorous training under the able wings of his gurus chiseled him and he emerged as the most brilliant guitarist of the present generation.
The highly innovative mind of Debashish restlessly searched the ways and means to incorporate all the finer nuances of vocal music in his guitar. As the young maestro says he is still restless, he thinks Indian Classical guitar needs to reach through the depth of Indian raga music to its bottom .At the same time he imagined to have the depth and vast scope of classical Indian instruments like veena, sitar, sarode etc. This led him to invent, experiment and add quite a few new features in his guitar. |
